In my opinion it is important to be able to work in a team, because in a group you benefit from major advantages. There are several reason points you have to consider.
The first point for working in a team, is the ability to work faster. For example you have a project with different subtasks. If every person in the group is assigned to a specific task you are able to split the work and get the tasks done in parallel.
Another advantage is the possibility to have a large base of knowledge, which will give you more experience and information to get the job done. Every person has a different background and as a result everybody knows additional information.
The group itself also ensures that the quality of the result is better than from a single person. This is the result of different people reflecting and inspecting ideas from a different person.
Every person is able to contribute with their comments.
